Let me share with you my fascination with the ordinary, and invite you to explore the complex sentiments that underlie everyday events.  Joy, calm,  despair — every day of our lives is charged with these emotions.  Perhaps it is my background as a teacher that urges me to simplify, simplify, simplify.  Thus, I distill these everyday feelings to their most basic elements and present the central images in my art in vibrant colours and geometric shapes.  Fabric and thread allow me to touch these feelings in literal as well as figurative ways. I often bring additional depth to the works by illuminating them with  embellishments such as buttons, beads, or ribbons.

My art is meant to depict the extraordinary in the ordinary and to show our common experiences in uncommon ways.
